Really think about it. What motivates you to get up every morning and play the game known as Life? What is it? Do you do it for yourself? Your religion/beliefs? Do you do it for your family? Do you do it for your children? Partner in Life.. your wife or husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc..?
Do you deserve the gift of Life? Do you complain about everything that doesn’t go your way? Do you thank a higher power or are just simply happy for all you have? Are you in the middle?
Now the BIG question… Would you give up your Life for someone else? Someone you believe is more deserving? Someone you think deserves it more? Would you save a 73 year old man or a 2 year old girl? Would you save a single father of 4 or a single mother of 2? What constitutes someone being worthy of your Life or Life in general? What are the guidelines? Does your Life even mean anything to you? Would you trade your Life for your friend’s dying dog or cat?
Yes, these are things I think of when pondering “Life”.
- I’ll tell you what motivates me to get up every morning.. My family. I know that if my lazy butt doesn’t get out of bed, I’ll lose my job. Me having my job pays for my family and I to live under a roof and put food in our stomachs. I don’t commit suicide because it would devastate my mother, sisters, nieces and friends. Oh, and since I was raised Catholic and to believe in the devil.. I don’t want a one-way ticket to hell. I really hope that whole “Lake of fire” stuff is crap. Either it’s going to loosen up my back or I’m going to complain for eternity. lol. I would annoy the shit out of the devil. lol.
- Do I deserve the gift of Life? I think good people deserve it. Mother Teresa for example, I’m sure I was put here for a reason. What that reason is.. I don’t know. It could be anything. The elderly lady I carried groceries for, the nerdy kid I stood up for, to hug and comfort my mother when she was beaten, to help my sister communicate with others by interpreting, to throw sand into that girl’s eyes after she bullied and pushed my little sister down when we were younger, to save my dog from death, who knows.. maybe all the above? Maybe I haven’t fulfilled my destiny yet?
- Would you give up your Life for someone else? YES, in a heartbeat. For anyone who was dying and wanted to live. Even past historical, prestigious figures like Mother Teresa or Gandhi.. so, they could continue the great work they were doing to help others. My mom, sisters, nieces, family, friends, strangers with kids that are too young to lose a parent, anyone who has prayed to God, Allah, Buddha, Ganesha, or any higher being for just one more day for a loved one.
I guess the point of my rant is this:
It’s too bad those who beg God for death can’t transfer their life to those who want to live.
